Body Dismorphic Disorder

10/17/2007

Question:

I`ve heard of body dismorphic disorder, and I was juat wondering exactly what it was?

Answer:

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is characterized by an excessive preoccupation with a real or imagined defect in your physical appearance.

There are some good websites that describe this further.  One I would recommend is at the Mayo Clinic:  http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/body-dysmorphic-disorder/DS00559
