Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Erection problems at 25
Hi. I am 25 years old and I have never had erection problems until about 6 to 12 months ago. I know it is not in my head because I had no problems until about a year ago. It has gone from a full erection to a soft erection now I can`t get one at all the only time I become somewhat erect is when I am going to ejaculate but it is still nowhere close to the way it used to be. I also have no more spontaneous erections nor do I wake up with them anymore. I have never been injured or had any other problems. Also over the last year I have begun to lose hair at the top of my head above my forehead it doesn`t seem like normal hair loss because if I lightly pull on my hair at least 5 hairs come out and a few times 15-20 have came out.
I don`t know if the 2 problems are connected but I think they might be. I am slightly over weight but not obese and I had a 7 year period in my life were I didn`t do much of anything and I wasn`t very active. I am also not nor have I been depressed. Please answer this question as full and detailed as possible. Thank you.
As I understand it your condition did not happen suddenly. If so, and you can even remember the event leading to erectile dysfunction, then the cause is usually psychological or traumatic.
If the condition was gradual in onset then you should certainly see your urologist or an endocrinologist. Sometimes abnormalities of glands such as thyroid, pituitary and adrenal may cause the problem. If underlying cause is diagnosed then treatment is possible. There are times that vascular impairment, known as venous leak or arterial insufficiency may be the cause which your urologist may be able to identify and possibly treat it.
