How long after starting mestinon do you feel an improvement?
Mestinon is a medication for symptom control of myasthenia gravis (MG). It does not treat the cause of MG. The onset of action is variable but is usually between 1 to 2 hours. The duration of action is also variable but is usually several hours. Most people require several doses of Mestinon a day for symptom control. Some people with MG have severe antibody blockage and may not respond to Mestinon. If you have MG and are prescribed Mestinon, it is important to talk to your physician about how well your symptoms are controlled with the Mestinon and if you have any side effects.
