Urinary and Genital Disorders (Children)

Retractile testicle question

10/30/2007

Question:

Our almost 4 yr old has retractile testicles. (BOTH) often when he says "there up, it hurts", they are not up, but he is still obviously having pain. If i gently rub the groin area, it will stop. Is this part of retractile testicles?

Answer:

Usually retractile testes do not cause pain, although some boys feel pressure when the testicle is retracted. The symptoms you are describing are unusual, and it would be reasonable for him to be evaluated by a pediatric urologist.
