Arthritis and Rheumatism

Enbrel and infections

10/30/2007

Question:

I am taking Enbrel, Arthotec, Methotrexate and Prednisone for my RA. I went to my doctor for a dizzy, pressure and pain in my head. He said that I had fluid in my sinuses and ears. He told me to take Tylenol Sinus. I am also in the middle of a flare and that is why I am back on Prednisone. Should I stop taking the Enbrel?

Answer:

I don't know your situation personally, so I cannot tell you what to do. In general, it is not a good idea to be taking enbrel if you have an infection. I would certainly ask your doctors if that is what you should do.
