Parkinson's Disease

True story?

11/15/2007

Question:

is there any record of people actually cured of parkinsons?

Answer:

There is currently no cure for idiopathic Parkinson's Disease and no known record of spontaneous, permanent remission.  PD is a chronic, progressive neurodegenerative disease.  Individual patients do vary significantly in presentation and progression, though.  Additionally, there are certain medications and other metabolic disorders that can cause parkinsonism (symptoms that look like PD).  When the causative agent is stopped or the underlying metabolic disease is properly treated, the parkinsonism may resolve.
