Leaky leg veins - below the knee12/04/2007 |
My father broke his leg last year, and didn`t recieve proper treatment when it happened. As a result, he now has leaky veins in one of his legs, and can`t be as active as he used to be. Besides wearing a supportive bandage, what other treatments can aid in preventing the fluid build-up and pain? Please help us. Thank you!
Daily support stockings in the range of 20-30mmHg of pressure would be best. These should be replaced every 4-6 months. If the support stockings don't work, I would recommend evaluation with a vascular surgeon about the many minimally invasive options. Good luck!
