I have a 16 year old son. He lifts weight during his athletics period in high school. Is it okay for him to lift at home after school also, or is that too much?
As with any activity, you need to make sure that there is appropriate supervision and instruction. Weightlifting and strength and conditioning are very important to athletic development but also need to be maintained in moderation. The additional workouts need to have specific goals in mind. Continuing to add workouts may or may not be beneficial. Teenagers are still developing and are undergoing many physical changes. Seeking out the school athletic trainer and or trying to work with a certified personal trainer may be most beneficial. I hope your son has continued success.
