Pleomorphic calcifications12/26/2007 |
I recently had 2 mammograms and I am a 44 yr old white female who has been told to have a biopsy of the left breast as there is a presence of indetermined pleomorphic calcifications along the 6 0clock radiant of the breast. it is condidered suspicious and the area seems isolated with microscopic dots. Is this usually cancer as I read if it is larger than it is better. Please answer quickly as I am very anxious to hear.
Indeterminate pleomorphic calcifications that are considered suspicious ("BI-RADS 4") are more often benign than malignant. Cancer is detected in the biopsy in about 15-20%.
