Abnormal CT after colon CA01/14/2008 |
My father, 70 yrs old, was dx`ed with stage 3B colon ca with 2 out of 14 pos lymph nodes Jan 2006. He had a colon resection followed by 6 mos of chemo. He has done well and had a neg colonoscopy and neg ct Jan 2007. He had an abd ct 12/31/2007. He saw his dr today who said they found a spot on his spleen. He is having a pet scan later this week . Is the spleen a likely source of metastases? I know the liver can be a site of mets. Naturally, we are very concerned. We are praying this is benign. Can the PET scan tell if it is a malignancy and if it were, would surgery be an option or chemo? Thanks.
Very unusual for colon cancer to metastasize to the spleen without having liver metastases; most likely this will be nothing significant; PET scan will be very helpful.
