Kidney reflux and weight loss01/30/2008 |
My granddaughter has kidney reflux bilateral grade 3 to 4 and she is not graining weight as she should. She was 7.5 lbs at birth and is now 11.8 lbs at 3 months old. She has been in the hospital twice for failure to thrive. Is this a symptom of the kidney reflux?
It could be a result of reduced or impaired kidney function, urinary infection, or electrolyte abnormalities, but there are also many other potential causes. A pediatric nephrologist and pediatric endocrinologist would be able to identify the cause.
