Long heavy menstrual period02/16/2008 |
I am 44 years of age and have AIDS. My menstral period has lasted 1 1/2 mos. with heavy bleeding. A nurse examined me and asked if I had pain. No I do not. She suggested that if it continues 2 more weeks that I should make another appointment. To you agree with the nurse`s suggestion or should I not be concerned at all?
It is difficult to advise you without knowing all of the circumstances. Generally speaking, after 6 weeks of heavy bleeding I would check a blood count to see if a patient is severely anemic. I would also consider starting a hormone treatment or anti-hormone treatment to stop the bleeding unless the patient has medical reasons not to use hormones.
