Is it reaction from radiation or IBC?
I have inflitrating ductal carcinoma stage 3A. Just finished a year of chemo and had radiation to the breast. Radiation finished in Sept. of 2007. Since then have had swelling of the breast, redness, heat, very sore and orange peel effect. they have done a biopsy where the lumpctomey was performed. Came back negative. Have been on several doses of antibotics since July. No results...Breast is getting worse..Went for another biopsy on the other side of the same breast. waiting for results. Idon`t agree with my doctor. What else can I do? Feel as if no one is listening to me. Thank you for your help
Radiation therapy can certainly cause the symptoms and signs you are describing, but so can cancer. If you don't agree with your doctor and feel that your concerns are not being appropriately addressed, then it is always reasonable to seek another opinion. If the second opinion agrees with your doctor, it will give you peace of mind. If not, you can decide with whom you are more comfortable.
