Bleeding vein02/15/2008 |
What are the treatment options for a vein that periodiclly bleeds via a varicose vein just above my right ankle. In a reply by Dr. Amy Reed to a previous question on the same problem, it was stated that there are a number of options. On my last visit to the hospital, a DEM nurse asked if I had considered cauterization. Could someone please explain to me what is involved in cauterization? Thanks.
Ablation is the proper term. Instead of stripping or removing the vein, a thin catheter scars the vein down from the inside. I would recommend you seek consultation with a vascular surgeon to see what the options are.
