what is the life expectancy of a baby with cystic fibrosis
The predicted survival age reported by the cystic fibrosis foundation is currently 36.9 years of age. This is from the annual data report from the CFF in 2006. The data from 2007 will be reported at this annual conference in October of this year. Being that this is a medial age, there will be many patient who survive past this, but also many who may die at a younger age.
The hope is by close follow-up at an accredited CF center and good adherence to the therapies prescribed, these patients can lead long and healthy lives. More information can be obtained at www.cff.org, but I strongly encourage discussion with a primary doctor if questions arise.
