Sickle Cell Anemia

Treatment Of Sickle Cell Patient

02/26/2008

Question:

I have been told that my 4 year-old son needs to take 2 injections per day and an additional one every two weeks. Why is this necessary? This has to be done for the rest of his life. Is there an alternative method of treatment that can be recommended?

Answer:

Thank you for visiting NetWellness. I am sorry, but I cannot comment on your son's treatment without knowing what medication is in the injections and why his doctor has recommended the treatment. Your questions about the proposed treatments of this condition need to be directed to his treating physician(s).
