Scaling and root planing03/14/2008 |
Is it better when scaling and root planing 4 quadrents one per week to allways go back and ultrasonic the previous quadrent for debridement perposes. or should you leave the area alone to reduce chance of detaching the new attatchment?
One always wants to go back to the area previously treated and determine the need to go back and re-instrument. If it looks like it is healing well and there are no obvious deposits, then it can be left alone. If there is an accumulation of plaque, left over calculus, or an area that is still bleeding, it may need to be re-instrumented.
