Unusual milk canines03/28/2008 |
My daughter is 7 years old and her dentist recently decided to remove all 4 milk canines as she has a problem of crowding in her mouth - the canines all had long roots with ridges as if they were double roots - is this normal? I thought that milk teeth at the front of the mouth were without roots - especially double ones!
Thank you for the question. The primary or 'milk' teeth have roots as grown-up teeth, they are simply resorbed as the grown up teeth come in. The root shape of primary teeth has been noted to be very irregular, so the ridges don't surprise me. I'm glad to hear your daughter is under the care of a dentist for the crowding - sometimes good follow-up can be the key!
