Breast pain

Question:

Im 58yrs old.i been going through menopause for 3yrs. i have not had a period since i was 55yrs.old and have not had a hysterotomy.but did have one ovary removed 25yrs.ago.in the past month, i been having pain in my right breast. which i did have to lumps removed yrs ago. that were not cancerous. I was wondering if i need to be put on hormones medicine. which i never been on.or could it be cause by something else.

Answer:

Your breast pain is not likely from the lack of or need for hormone replacement therapy. In fact, estrogen often causes breast tenderness. You should be evaluated by your physician as well as make sure you are up to date with your yearly mammogram.
