High blood platelet count04/10/2008 |
My husband recently had a routine blood test before one-day surgery. His platelet count was twice the normal count, his hematic panel was elevated as was his potassium level. What kinds of problems might we be dealing with? And what should we do next?
Elevated platelets can be a reactive process and nothing may need to be done. However, careful followup by your physician to see if they continue rising is important.
