Is Using Both Fosamax and Evista Necessary?05/27/2008 |
I started taking Fosamax at 50 years old, based on data from my first bone density test. At 59, my latest bone density test caused my doctor to put me on Evista, as well as Fosamax. I exercise regularly (more than most my age). So, is this overkill?
Most of the time it is not necessary to use 2 medications for osteoporosis. If you lost a statistically significant amount of bone while on Fosamax, if would be good to do some tests to be sure there is no other cause of bone loss.
