Pulse Reading

05/28/2008

Question:

my pulse reading was 53...I`m 59 yrs. old male 190 lbs. with 60-100 being normal, could this be a problem?

Answer:

This isn't an anxiety and stress question. However, the answer to the question is that many people have resting pulses less than 60. The most common reasons are fitness (those who are fit and exercise regularly have lower pulses) and medications (many medicines will lower the heartrate.) I would recommend that the you follow up with your primary care doctor if you have any specific questions about your heart.
