Infertility

Unblocking fallopian tube, Will it help?

05/14/2008

Question:

I`ve had two ectopic pregnancies in the past. I`ve lost my right tube, now my left is blocked. Can I get pregnant successfully if I got it unblocked? Or is my lining on the inside of the tube the problem? Should I not try anymore?

Answer:

With a history of prior tubal pregnancy and blockage in the remaining tube, your chances of having another tubal pregnancy or simply not being able to conceive, are significantly increased.  In your case, I would likely recommend in vitro fertilization (IVF).
