What is mild discoid bibasilar atelectasis?
Atelectasis refers to areas of the lung that are collased and not receiving airflow. Discoid atelectasis usually refers to subsegmental or very small areas of atelectasis. There are many causes of atelectasis including not taking sufficiently large breaths (for example, after surgery) and areas of the lung that have been injured (for example, from previous pneumonia).
