Pain Movement from Herniated Disc06/10/2008 |
Can pain travel upwards from a bulging or herniated disc? I was told it could only travel downwards.
That is generally true. Pain follows the nerve root that is usually affected and in the lumbar spine that travels downward. However, occasional patients complain of pain going up the spine; it remains to be determined what is the cause of that phenomenon.
