Menopause

Mittelschmerz

07/07/2008

Question:

Is it normal for Mittelschmerz pain to get worse during the perimenopause years? I am 45 and it seems that for the last year or so that my mid cycle pain is more than it was when I was in my thirties. I never used to take any pain relief but now occasionally I need to take a Naproxen on one of the mid-cycle days due to cramping. In my thirties I would notice it but don`t recall it ever being as painful. Thank you.

Answer:

Mittleschmerz and menstrual cramping can get worse for some women around the time of menopause.  Such symptoms should be reported to your physician for monitoring and evaluation when indicated.
