How many injections can I have for my hip?06/12/2008 |
I have had 1 injection into my groin which gave relief, but after 3 months and some excessive walking I had to do over a week the pain returned I am due to have another injection, but how many times can this be given is there a limit and if so what next? thank you.
The number and frequency of the injections are dependent on the type of medication used. Typically, corticosteroids are used and to have a second after three months is not excessive. I would consult with your physician as to the medication used and their expected frequency for injection. Ideally, a limited number (1 -3) would be given. If your symptoms continue to recur more frequently or with increased intensity, you and your physician may want to re-evaluate your treatment options.
