Soreness & tenderness at carotid artery neck06/23/2008 |
Should I be screened for carotid artery disease when the only symptom is frequent tenderness and soreness at the left side of the neck in the location of the carotid artery? There is no swelling. I do have high blood pressure, am on medication for it, but even with multiple medications, it stays in the 145 -155/85-95 range.
Hello,
Would have your primary care physician order a carotid duplex/ultrasound to be sure there is no dissection of the artery in the area of your tenderness. High blood pressure can sometimes cause that. Take Care!
