Infertility

ICSI Treatment

07/25/2008

Question:

My wife got icsi treatment last week and four embryo had been transplanted on the 9th of July 2008. The sizes were 5 cell x 1 6 cell x 1 7 cell x 2, what are the prospects of getting positive results? And what is the suitable time to go for pregnancy check?

Answer:

I am assuming that these embryos were transferred on day 3. Therefore, we would like to see embryos at the 6-8 cell stage, with a grade of 1 or 2 (in our program, 1 is best while 5 is poor quality). I would expect your chances to be good based upon your wife's age. A pregnancy test is usually performed 2 weeks following the embryo transfer.
