Does the ANA remain elevated in a patient who has been diagnosed with MG and has had a thymectomy?
ANA (anti-nuclear antibodies) is not something I routinely check at all in patients with myasthenia gravis. We usually check acetylcholine receptor antibodies (AChR Abs) at the time of diagnosis. Unfortunately, the titers do not relate well with treatment so I usually don’t check them after treatment. Clinical response is more important.
