What to do first - surgery or planing07/28/2008 |
is it necessary to do scaling and planing when you know you have to cut the gums anyway
Yes....a surgeon would not like to perform any type of surgery if the site is infected. The incisions will not be straight, the tissue manipulation will be terrible. You have to clean the area first and let it heal so you will have a tight soft tissue to manipulate and not much calculus, plaque and related microbes at the surgical site.
