Vaginal burning

08/04/2008

Question:

I`m 51 yrs old, not sexually active but is experiencing the most excruciating burning. No discharge or smell. I only wear cotton underpants, no scented soap. I still having my periods. all the doctors say is that it`s related to menopause. I have used creams and antibiotics. It`s becoming worse. Please help me.

Thank you

Answer:

Burning on the vulva usually requires an examination.  While you are waiting for your appointment, discontinue all soap on the area.  No fabric softeners on your underpants, no anti-cling products.  Use water only to cleanse the area.
