Menopause

Spotting 6 years after menopause

08/04/2008

Question:

I am 58 years old and have not had a period for 6 years. I have started spotting only the discharge is brown. Is this normal? If it is not then what questions should I be asking my physician when I see her?

Answer:

It is not considered normal to have brown spotting that many years after menopause.  It would be good to see your clinician for an examination to see if the cause can be determined.
