Can BPH Lead to Prostate Cancer?08/27/2008 |
Do Finasteride or Dutasteride really decrease the size of an enlarged prostate? Of the two, which is the better medication for BPH? Is there a maximum time that one should take the medication? Can BPH lead to prostate cancer? How many times per year is one supposed to have PSA and DRE?Sorry if I have so many questions doctor, but you know, sometimes I don`t know if urologists in the Philippines can be trusted. Many, many thanks.
Finasteride and Dutasteride are very similar and work in essentially the same way. They can both be taken long term. BPH itself does not cause prostate cancer, but prostate cancer can develop in men with BPH. Men should have a PSA and DRE at least once a year.
