High Blood Pressure
BYSTOLIC produced by Forest Pharmaceutical
Please advise me on the side effects of this Beta Blocker High Blood Pressure medication
Bystolic (nebivolol) is a newer type of beta blocker. It has been used in Europe for about ten years, but has been released in the U.s. only about a year ago.
Data from clinical trials have shown that Bystolic has a very good side effect profile. While older beta blockers have been reported to sometimes cause fatigue, decreased exercise ability, weight gain and even depression, it appears that Bystolic is much less likely to do so.
The most commonly reported side effect of Bystolic in clinical trials were headache, fatigue, dizziness and diarrhea. However, these side effects were just as common in the placebo group.
It must be added that the drug has not been used widely in the U.S. yet, and safety data continue to be accumulated.
