Emphysema and elective surgery09/15/2008 |
I have stage 1 emphysema and I have quit smoking and do not yet need any meds. I was about to have elective ( plastic ) surgery and now I`m not sure if the emphysema presents special problems with anesthesia and healing. Shall I go ahead with it ? Thank you.
Stage 1 emphysema most likely will not represent any problems with anesthesia; however, you should discuss this further with your physician.
