Dental and Oral Health (Children)

Top baby teeth came out - one still hasn`t

09/15/2008

Question:

My 8 year old daughter lost both her front top teeth. One is comming in good. The other one shows no sign of breaking. I can see the outline of the tooth on the gum. It has been 5 months. Is this normal

Answer:

Thank you for the question. Yes this is fairly normal. Eruption of teeth differs from child to child and even from tooth to tooth. We tend to pay more attention to the sequence that teeth come in rather than the actual time. A thorough examination from a dentist will include x-rays which will be able to tell the stage of development and eruption of different teeth. Hope that helps.
