Urinary and Genital Disorders (Children)

Scrotum sag

10/15/2008

Question:

I am only 16 and this problem bugs me a lot. My scrotum seems to sag unusually low. It bothers me on a personal level just because of my age and how it looks. I look at it as a fault, but that`s just because of my age mentality. I understand it but can`t fight what I think regardless, and I just think I should not have this problem, but my scrotum seems to sag too much and it is very tender. Because of it I know it is easily hurt but the sagging leaves it tender enough to where just something simple like washing in the shower to hard can cause a slight pain for a second, and I do get random pain a times from the slightest wrong move when sitting. It really only got notice able within the past year.

The problem only seems to be getting worse. I would like to know how this might be happening? Like if its just genetics and unstoppable or if it could be some medical condition?

Thank you for your time.

Answer:

You are experiencing what a lot of young men your age feel, which is extreme scrotal sensitivity. Some men have a very loose scrotum, whereas others have a small, compact scrotum. It is a very natural condition.

If you are experiencing significant irritation in the scrotum, then application of lotion along the edge of the scrotum may reduce the inflammation. In addition, try not to rub or scratch, because it will only get worse. Also, you may find that boxer briefs are more comfortable and provide more support than regular boxer underwear.
