Pain in my gums10/13/2008 |
Last week, I accidently scraped my bottom gum. It hart a little the day that it happened. But it’s now getting more painful each day. Today it’s very white and very painful. I’ve been flossing and using mouth wash to ease the pain. That seems to help for a few hours. Is there something more/less I should be doing?
Most of the mouth rinses contain alcohol. Thus, I do not recommend rinsing with them to induce wound healing. If you do not have high blood pressure, a saline solution (salty warm water) may help to ease the edema (swelling) and related inflammation. All this depends on how and how much you hurt yourself. If you have exposed root surfaces, sensitivity will continue depending on the severity of the problem.
