Pain Management

Right Scapula Pain

10/10/2008

Question:

I have had pain in my right scapula area that extends around to the armpit. It`s been hurting for 9 months. I went to a back doctor and he said it might be a pinched nerve. So I did physical therapy for about 2 1/2 months and it didn't help. I also have frequent stools and well as they are always loose. I had upper abdominal gastrointestinal spasms one day.

What could be causing my problem?

Thank you!

Answer:

The GI problem and the pain problem may not necessarily be related. An MRI of the cervical and/or upper thoracic spine may be helpful in elucidating the cause of the pain (e.g. disc problem). Consulting with your physicians or specialists for both problems would be useful.
