Tuberculosis

Lung PTB Residuals

10/13/2008

Question:

Ten years ago I was infected by tuberculosis. It was treated and had undergone a medication for a year. I had my lung X-Ray recently as prerequisite for my job. It has a findings of Upper Lung Minute Nodulocalcification and an impression of Lung PTB Residuals. Does it means that I am still infested with the disease and possibly contagious? Please explain. Thank you.

Answer:

In order to answer the question of whether you are still infected with tuberculosis and whether you could be contagious to others, you will have to go see a physician. It would also probably be helpful to have your current chest X-ray compared to any other chest X-rays you have had taken previously.
