Stage IVB metastic pancreatic cancer11/12/2008 |
What is the survival rate for a patient in this phase? My very good friend has been going thru this for 4.5 years. She is now taking Tarceva and chemo. She has been asympotmatic other than an upset stomach and rash. She had a whipple done in 2004. Can you give any advice for a caring friend?
For metastatic or stage 4 pancreas cancer, the average survival rate starting from the time of diagnosis of metastases is 6 months. For all patients regardless of stage, approximately 4% live for 5 years or more. Your friend has done very well from a survival standpoint.
