Root Canals

Pain after a root canal

11/13/2008

Question:

I had a root canal done many years ago and now my pain is so bad under the cap. I have heavy pain and also in the jaw area. I can`t chew even bread makes it hurt more. I have been taking advil and that helps with the pain. But when that wears off it hurts worst. Went to town dentist and he does not know what to do for it. Help the pain even brings me down in tears. What is going on?

Answer:

I'm sorry to hear that you are having pain. I would recommend a consultation by an endodontist. Endodontists are dentists with additional education in diagnosis and root canal treatment. Because they limit their practices to endodontics, they treat these types of problems every day. They use their special training and experience in treating difficult cases.
