Calcifications in the breast11/25/2008 |
I recently had a biopsy in my right breast, should I be worried about getting cancer? It was for calcifications found during my mammorgram.
After the biopsy results are known, the answer to your question will become more clear. Some biopsies that do not show cancer still have features, like "atypia" or abnormal cells that make it more likely that cancer may develop in the future. Other biopsies show tissue and calcifications that do not predispose to cancer. Your doctor should be able to tell you what your risk of developing cancer is, after all the results are available.
