Colorectal Diseases

Bowel problem

12/22/2008

Question:

I am 44 years old male, in the last three weeks I have been having problems with going to the bathroom. It is very painfull, like I have to really push to release my stool. I also fell like I have to go all day. It feels like I have preasure in my bottom. Can you help?

Answer:

Yes, I can. You may have an anal fissure with muscle spasm causing your symptoms. Try a good stool softener and powdered fiber supplement to ease your symptoms. If this does not lead to resolution in the next 2-3 weeks, please see your doctor for an exam to insure there is not another cause of your symptoms- like proctitis or a tumor.
