Glycerin allergy12/29/2008 |
I have been told by an allergist that I am allergic to glycerin. I don`t seem to have any symptoms that normal allergies give but I have had headaches for 20+ years. Could the headaches have anything to do with allergies? I am also allergic to pork products which I think is why I`m allergic to glycerin.
It is possible to develop a delayed type hypersensitivity reaction to glycerol confirmed by patch testing. There is a relationship with headaches and upper respiratory symptoms related to "allergic rhinitis" and "non-allergic rhinitis". I am not following your rationale regarding pork products and glycerin. I know of no relationship. I would see an allergist experienced it these unusual issues who can help you better understand the problems you are experiencing.
