Translucent Matter In Urine
I am the father of a 16 year old male who has had multiple UTI`s. We have made an appointment with a urologist and we are awaiting urinalysis results from a visit to the hospital last night where he was diagnosed once again with a UTI. In the sample given to the hospital, translucent flake-like matter could be seen in the urine, ultimately sinking to the bottom. Also, he has noticed matter in his urine similar to mucus. We have not consulted a doctor on this matter and nobody from the hospital has mentioned the flake-like matter. What we would like to know is what this matter is, and what it`s presence may be an indication of.
Recurrent urinary tract infections in a 16 year old male require further evaluation by a urologist. The mucous and debris may be from the bacteria itself but further evaluation with urine culture, radiologic studies, and a more detailed history and physical exam are needed to better answer your question.
