Platelet count HS12/29/2008 |
I was diagnosed with HS two month`s ago. I had a Splenectomy and my Goal bladder removed two weeks ago. Today as a follow up my CBC showed a very high Platelet count of 1.7 million. This is very high correct? Is a Very high Platelet count normal S/P this type of procedure?Thank You
The platelet count can go very high after a splenectomy, and it is not typically associated with clotting problems. It should gradually go down over the next several weeks to months. The platelet count can go up with any stress on the body, so in the future it could shoot up again and come back down slowly for the same reasons.
