Tooth Decay and Medications01/07/2009 |
What medications can cause tooth decay? Can tegretol or diabetes medications cause tooth decay? If not What meds can cause it?
Medications do not cause decay. They can increase the risk. Patients should take extra precautions and they have good oral hygiene habits (consult your hygienist). Diabetes itself and certain medications can cause dry mouth which can increase the risk for decay, so be sure to keep it hydrated with water.
