Hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis in young women

01/13/2009

Question:

does it affect young women or later in life nearing the end of their menstrul cycle

Answer:

Yes, it is true that women will tend to preset later in life due to auto-phlebotomize states during their menstrual cycles. However, this is somewhat unreliable and would not affect screenings. Screening can still be done effectively just to make sure that these women are not at risk later in life.
